WhatsApp UPI payments: Paytm wants fair play

As Facebook owned WhatsApp has announced the launching of a digital payment service in India, it seems to have not gone well with Paytm. The latter has accused WhatsApp UPI (Unified Payment Interface) system of violating the norms laid out by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Though many pointed out the stance of Paytm, as fear competition, the company officials however maintained that all they need was a fair play from WhatsApp UPI.

According to Paytm officials, WhatsApp UPI system wasn’t secure enough and doesn’t comply the rules of NPCI. They added that WhatsApp UPI system doesn’t allow user for payment with Bank Account IFSC or that of Aadhaar number for that matter. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma went onto state that WhatsApp would be killing the whole system of UPI, with their insecure interface.
