In a shock to the India’s music fraternity, singer and composer Krishnakumar Kunnath, known by his stage name KK, passed away at the age of 53, shortly after finishing a live concert in Kolkata. Over the span of his almost 3-decade-long career KK sang more than 500 songs in Hindi and more than 200 songs in Telugu, Bengali, Kannada and Malayalam languages.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “West Bengal Government will give gun salute to singer KK at Kolkata airport.”
The Chief Minister tweeted, “The sudden and untimely demise of the Bollywood playback singer KK shocks and saddens us. My colleagues have been working from last night to ensure that all requisite support is given for necessary formalities, his rites and to his family now. My deep condolences.”

Meanwhile, Kolkata Police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the sudden demise of singer KK. The case has been registered at the New Market police station. The mortal remains of KK will be handed over to the family after the postmortem.
