The University Grants Commission has asked all higher educational institutions in the country to defer from conducting University examinations. The apex body has asked the institutions to postpone all university examinations, including those of final year, on the wake of the spread of corona virus. The proposal put forward by the UGC also asks to postpone the beginning of new academic year. While the UGC’s earlier proposal was to start the new academic year by September, it has now been pushed for another month – October. According to the proposal of the UGC, it is also suggested to consider the marks of previous internal – semester examinations instead of conducting final year examinations.

In a recent interview, Human Resources Minister Ramash Pokhriyal maintained that he had asked the UGC to review the guidelines for the academic year and exams. According to the reports, UGC has already submitted a new proposal on this. A proper guideline is expected to get issued by the next week.
