UGC seeks feedback on new regulations for appointment of Teachers

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prepared a draft for appointing teachers and other academic staff in Universities and Colleges. The regulatory body has now sought feedback from stakeholders on the draft, by February 28. As per the draft, NET (National Eligibility Test) would be the minimum eligibility for appointment of Assistant Professors. For considering to the promotion of Selection Grade Assistant Professors and direct appointment to the same, only PhD candidates would be considered

The PhD degree qualification is sought to be in effect from 01.07.2021 onwards. According to the draft, the teaching hours for a college professor, should not be less than 40 hours a week. It also states that a teacher should have a minimum of 180 working days in a calendar year.
