Twitter has informed that they have banned Kaspersky Lab from its advertising platform. While announcing the decision, Twitter stated that the Russia based cyber security firm had a conflicting business model with that of Twitter’s Ads business practice. However, reacting to Twitter’s decision, Kaspersky Lab’s founder Eugene Kaspersky has composed an open letter and termed the twitter’s move as part of political censorship. He further maintained that it was towards the end of January, which Twitter had informed him about an advertising ban on Kaspersky’s official accounts. Tweeting on this issue, Eugene commented that the company’s planned Twitter advertising budget for 2018 would be donated to the EFF.

Earlier, in September 2017, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has produced an order to the federal agencies to remove Kaspersky products from their networks. It has to be seen how Eugene’s overt criticism on Twitter’s decision, creates an impression amongst the user community.
