TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has signed an MoU with BEREC (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications), regarding net neutrality. BEREC, which is the telecom regulator group in Europe, and TRAI have made it clear that there need setting up of some new net neutrality rules. In issuing a joint statement, spokespersons from TRAI and BEREC maintained that the MoU would encourage both the parties in addressing the current and future issues and challenges in the field of telecom sector.
TRAI Chairman RS Sharma also added that, internet needs to be kept as an open platform, by not giving space for discrimination.
