The woman who smuggled the gold and the gang that came to steal arrested at Karipur.

The police arrested the woman who smuggled gold worth eight lakh rupees through Karipur airport and the gang that came to steal the gold with her connivance. Deena (30), a native of Sultan Batheri, Wayanad, who smuggled the gold, Mohammad Sahad (24), a native of Nallalam, Kozhikode, and Mohammad Jamnas (36), a native of Vaniyamkara, Kozhikode, were arrested. Deena smuggled 146 grams of gold from Dubai through Karipur airport bypassing customs. The gang of four reached the airport with Deena’s knowledge to steal the illegally brought gold for Zubair, a native of Wayanad. Their plan was to extort the gold before handing over the gold to the people directed by the givers.

Deena, who had already smuggled gold, this time joined hands with the ‘Pottikal Sangha’ and aimed to steal the smuggled gold and keep it. After bypassing the customs, the woman left the airport, tricked those who had come to buy gold and got into the car with the robbery gang and was speeding out. But the police team chased the woman and caught her.
After interrogating the trio for a long time, the gold was found hidden in their luggage. After arresting the accused, they were produced in Mancheri court and remanded. The police said that the investigation for the other accused involved in the case is continuing and that strong interventions are being made to stop the crimes taking place at the airport. In the last four months, the police have arrested three gangs of robbers who came to the Karipur airport to loot the smuggled gold. The police also arrested a 19-year-old woman who smuggled gold worth one crore rupees by sewing it into her underwear.
