The special plane that went to Mission Choksi returned: Mehul Choksi’s release was in limbo

The Qatar Airways flight sent by India to repatriate diamond trader Mehul Chowdhury from Dominica has returned. The plane returned empty-handed seven days after arriving in Dominica. On May 28, officials departed the Delhi Executive Flight A7CEE flight from Delhi airport with the documents of the cases against Chosky. The journey was a mystery. The plane was bound for Marigot, Dominica. The plane had been waiting seven days for Choksi to be brought back.

The High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on Mehul Choksi’s plea. The plane reportedly took off from Melville Hall Airport at 8.09pm on June 3. But Indian agencies have not clarified whether the officers who went to bring Choski back were on board.

The Antigua News Room reports that Judge Bernie Stephenson will decide on a new date for the trial only after a meeting of the two parties. The court heard the case on Thursday via video conference. Several people protested in front of the High Court building in Rosso, holding up placards raising the issue of who brought Choc Chosi to Dominica. The Dominican court had ordered the government to produce Mehul Choksi in a habeas corpus petition filed by Choksi’s lawyer.
