BJP national secretary Anil Antony said that it is the party’s national leadership that decides whether to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. He will act accordingly’, said Anil. Anil also alleged that there is a political agenda behind the Congress and CPM controversies over the Prime Minister’s Christmas party. In Manipur, the issues are between tribal groups. Amil accused that the Congress and the BJP think communally and that is why both the parties came out against the priest who joined the BJP in Kerala. Anil also criticized the Congress in the controversies regarding the inauguration of Ayodhya.
Another is that all the Congress leaders in North India are saying that they should go to Ayodhya. The leaders in Kerala are against it. People do not see Congress as an alternative to BJP because they cannot take a stand on such issues. Anil Antony said that with this election, Congress and CPM will disappear from the political map. Rumors are rife that the BJP may field Anil from constituencies with Christian votes in Madhya Kerala in the Lok Sabha elections. There are indications that Anil may be considered for the Idukki, Kottayam seats or the Chalakudy seat. BJP is preparing to fill the field in the state by announcing its candidates by this month itself.
BJP is mainly targeting four constituencies this time. These are Thrissur, Attingal, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram. In this, Suresh Gopi’s candidature in Thrissur is almost certain. In Attingal, Union Minister of State V Muraleedharan’s name is predominant. Everyone is looking at whether the BJP will shock by bringing national leaders to Thiruvananthapuram.
