The miracle hidden in the lap of the Ayiravalli Shiva Temple, a temple that worships a tree that became extinct 180 years ago

A tree believed to have become extinct 180 years ago has been found here in Kollam. The tree is now found in the Ayiravalli Shiva Temple near Paravur. Researchers say that this is the only surviving tree in the world. This tree belongs to the genus Ilippa. The tree was discovered in 1835 by the British Robert White. But later no further study was done and the outside world went unnoticed.

The tree has now been identified in a study conducted by JNTBGRI. They are studying the diversity of snakes. It is also said to be a medicinal plant for lung, dental and rheumatic diseases. Although it looks like an atelier at first glance, the difference in leaf shape prompted the researchers to study it.

It was a tree that was believed to have disappeared from the face of the earth. This plant has many medicinal properties. Years ago, the forest department received information that there was such a tree in the temple yard. But even before the arrival of the forest department, the temple committee had taken care of the tree years ago. A side wall was built around the tree to protect it. The tree grows to a height of 20 m. There are many branches and tributaries.
