New Delhi: The repatriation process is in progress to bring Indian nationals stuck at other countries during the covid-19 pandemic. The first group will be from the Maldives. They will be brought to Cochin. About 200 people will be shipped within a week. Arrivals should stay at Quarantine for 14 days in Kochi. The costs of the quarantine will have to be borne by themselves. The central government is of the view that the expatriates returning from the Gulf will have to pay the ticket, The rate is likely to be fixed by the government.
Registration of those who wish to return from other countries has begun at the embassies. Once the list of priority arrangements is prepared at the embassies and is in agreement with the government of the repatriated states, the govt will approve the journey. Kerala had demanded a free ride for some sections. 4.14 lakh foreign nationals from Kerala have registered to return to Kerala.
Around 61,009 Malayalees lost their jobs overseas. There are 9827 pregnant women, 10,628 children, 11,256 adults and 2902 students. There are 70,638 people on annual leave, 41,236 who have expired visiting visas, 27,100 who have expired or canceled their visas, 806 who have been released from prison, and 1,28,061 for other reasons.
