New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanda Biswa Sharma retracted his post saying that the dharma of Shudras is to serve Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas. He also apologized for the incident.
Himanda retracted the post and apologized saying that he used to post every verse of Bhagavad Gita on X and the problem was that one of his teammates had used the wrong translation the other day.
Himanda said that verse 44 of Bhagavad Gita’s 18th chapter was wrongly translated and posted and it was retracted immediately after realizing the mistake. He added that Assam is a casteless society and apologizes if anyone has been hurt.
At the same time, last Tuesday, a controversial note appeared on social media. The content of the post was that the work of Vaishyas is agriculture, husbandry and commerce, while the work of Shudras is to serve Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas.
There was a lot of criticism against this. After the post became controversial, the Assam Chief Minister apologized.
