Delhi: The central government bowed down to the opposition of wrestling players. The Union Sports Ministry has suspended the National Wrestling Federation governing body, which was elected the other day.
The action is based on violation of the Federation Constitution. The suspension order said that the wrestlers were not given enough time and the national competitions were announced in haste.
Brijbhushan Sharan Singh’s follower Sanjay Singh was elected as the new president of the federation.
There was a strong protest from the stars against Brijbhushan’s confidant being the president. The decisive action is taking place at a time when the protest of the wrestlers is getting stronger.
Wrestler Sakshi Malik ended his career in protest against Sanjay Singh’s chairmanship. Stars including Bajrang Punia came out against Sanjay Singh.
Virender Singh had returned the Padma Shri to ‘Goonga Filewan’ in support of wrestling players.
