Justice K Ramachandran, while hearing the plea of private bus owners’ case, maintained that the concession rates of students must be hiked adequately. He also opined that the hike should be at least 50% of the normal ticket charges. However, Justice K Ramachandran stated that the opinion from student organizations too must be considered in this matter. While commenting on the decision taken by the committee, he made it clear that the committee was in favor of hike in bus fare, while a final decision is yet to be taken regarding the rate of hike.

However, with the committee headed by Justice K Ramachandran was in favor of price hike in bus fares, it is suggested that the minimum charge would be INR 12. Yesterday the Kerala High Court stayed the government order of maintaining the current bus fare system. But, the state government was unwilling with the revised bus fare and stated that they would continue operating with the current fare system, as they are yet to receive the High Court order. Even after receiving the High Court order, the state government is looking forward to challenge the order.
