‘SG 250’; Tomichan Mulakuppadam turns down the claims of team ‘Kaduva’

When Tomichan Mulakuppadam, whose name is synonymous with big budget flicks, announced that he would be producing ‘SG 250’, the official 250th movie of Suresh Gopi, fans of the star were sure that the movie would be backed by a lavish budget. However, in no time, the film ran into controversies, as the scriptwriter of Prithviraj starring ‘Kaduva’ – Jinu Abraham – filed a lawsuit, alleging that ‘SG 250’ has violated the copyright terms. Well, the movie was later barred from using the character name ‘Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan’ by the court. That said, Tomichan has come forward and slammed all the allegations that were raised against the project, ‘SG 250’. The ace producer maintained that ‘Kaduva’ team had misled the court and made some hollow allegations against ‘SG 250’.

He pointed out to the shabby comments made by team ‘Kaduva’ as far as the controversial character name ‘Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan’ is concerned with. While earlier, it was alleged that the character of belonged to Jinu – which formed the back of the case was filed in the court.  However, later it was revealed that the original creator of the character is Ranji Panikkar, who wrote the character 21 years ago, for the movie ‘Vyaghram’ – an immaterialized project featuring Mohanlal in the lead role. As far as ‘SG 250’ is concerned with, Tomichan made it clear that his movie had started shooting before December, last year; he also pointed out of registering the movie name as well. Tomichan also turned down all allegations raised against ‘SG 250’, and commented that all the issues were created in the name of speculation.

Soon after the lawsuit controversy popped up, Kuruvinakkunnel Jose – based on whom both the movies have supposedly written – came up and stated that he had given consent to create a film based on his life, only to Ranji Panicker; he also maintained that he wouldn’t allow to shoot both ‘Kaduva’ and ‘SG 250’. Later, Shaji Kailas has maintained that ‘Kaduva’ has nothing to do with the life of Kuruvinakkunnel Jose.
