Samsung has reportedly started off the production of the PM1643 Solid State Drive (SSD). The SSD will reportedly have a storage space of 30.72TB. A successor to the 15.36TB series, the PM1643 SSD will also be the largest SSD in the world, in terms of capacity. Insiders suggest that Samsung had combined 32, 1TB NAND flash packages, while creating the PM1643.
The drive is expected to have a write speed of up to 400,000 IOPS as well as 50,000 IOPS. Also users will be able to get a sequential reading and writing speed of up to 2,100MB/s and 1,700MB/s respectively. The drives would get a five year warranty period. It is not known when the drives would become market ready. Meanwhile, Samsung could come with the following SSD versions this year – 15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 800GB.
