Sammy was racially abused during IPL..?

The unfortunate death of George Floyd in the US by a police officer, gave way for some outrageous protests, not just in US, but across the world. It was during then, which West Indies player Darren Sammy alleged that some of his co players in the Sun Risers Hyderabad abused him racially. Sammy maintained that he was addressed ‘Kalu’ (Dark in colour) by his co stars. Further then, Sammy added that he never knew the racial element in the word, and warned those who had addressed him by ‘Kalu’ back then, should call him and explain, else he would reveal the names of those people.

However, social media has come up with some valid evidences, suggesting that some of the top players of Indian Cricket team, called Sammy ‘Kalu’. One such is Ishant Sharma, who shared an instagram post, in which Sammy was addressed ‘Kalu’. Similarly, a Twitter post by Sammy suggests that he was called ‘Kalu’ by VVS Laxman, though it is not known as of now, whether Laxman addressed Sammy ‘Kalu’ or not. Anyhow, the ‘Kalu’ remark is surely going to make some noise in the Indian cricket world, especially when the team becomes active in the field, in a post – Covid world.
