Revenue Minister orders a probe on ‘Chinnakanal’ land encroachment

Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan has ordered a probe on the alleged land encroachment in Chinnakanal, Idukki. The encroachment of the public land is worth 30 Crore and local sources suggests of an unholy alliance between real estate mafia and authorities. Earlier, it was reported that an individual named Jimmi Scaria had sold a 12 acres of public land to a Mumbai based company, by chalking out a false title deed. Though the revenue department had made an intervention to this deal, the high court verdict was in favor of the private company, since the govt. failed to produce adequate evidences.

However, some mass protests from local people and with media’s attention falling on the deal, authorities have made their stance clear, which resulted in the revenue minister ordering for a fresh probe into the scam.
