The film also included a Tamil song. The song Kanmani Anpod Kathalan from the movie Guna was included in this movie. Ilayaraja composed the music for this song.
A few days ago, Ilayaraja had sent a legal notice to the makers of Manjummal Boys. Ilayaraja’s lawyer sent a notice saying that he owns the copyright of this song and therefore needs compensation. He also says that this song should not be used in the film unless it is given. Now the makers of the movie have come with the answer to this.
Meanwhile, the film’s producer Shawn told the media that this song was used in the film after taking permission. The audio rights of the movie Guna were sold years ago. It was sold to Ilayaraja’s wife’s Pyramid Audios. Later Pyramid Audios was sold to a company called Music Master. From here Sridevi Video Corporation was buying its rights. They bought the rights of the song from the music master to use it in the movie Manjummal Boys.
Meanwhile, the Telugu version of the movie was also released. Telugu rights of this song are owned by Sridevi Video Corporation. The makers of the movie acquired the rights of this song from them. The film’s title card was thanking Ilayaraja. Ilayaraja said that there is no point in just saying thank you. He also stated that he should pay respectable compensation and if not, he will proceed with legal action. Anyway, the audience says that Ilayaraja’s pride has got a boost with the reaction of the makers of the movie ‘Manummal Boys’.
