PM Narendra Modi’s education certificates not to be released; High Court of Gujarat

New Delhi: The Gujarat High Court has said that the Gujarat University should not release the education certificates of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Gujarat High Court has clarified that it cannot review the judgment quashing the RTI Commission’s directive to issue the certificates to Arvind Kejriwal.

When Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers in 2014, he had mentioned that he had passed BA and MA courses.

Modi wrote BA in Entire Political Science. At that time, opponents had alleged that there was no such course and wrong information was given.

Later, Arvind Kejriwal sent a letter to the Central Information Commission asking for the education qualification documents of the Prime Minister.

Later, the commission directed Delhi University and Gujarat University to provide documents to Kejriwal.

With this, in 2016, Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley held a press conference and showed Modi’s BA and MA certificates to the media.

The Delhi University has also notified that the BA certificate is genuine.

But Kejriwal approached the Gujarat High Court questioning the instructions of the Gujarat University Information Commission.

But the court then ordered that Kejriwal should not be given the certificate. The High Court also directed Kejriwal to pay Rs 25,000 as court costs.

Again, Kejriwal filed an application demanding a review of this order. But the court rejected this plea of Kejriwal today.
