PG Sasikumaravarma, a member of the Pandalam royal family, passed away

Pathanamthitta: Former president of the Pandalam royal family Kaipuzha Ambika Vilas and former president of the palace management team PG Sasikumara Varma has passed away. He was 72 years old.

He died due to an old age related illness. He died while undergoing treatment at a private medical college in Thiruvalla. It ended at 5.37 pm on Tuesday.

Following the demise of the royal family, Pandalam closed the large Koical Dharmashasta temple. Sasikumara Verma, who took a stand against the Supreme Court verdict on the Sabarimala women's entry issue, had also led the Namajapayatra.

Sasikumara Varma Tampuran was born on May 13, 1952 as the son of Godasharman Namboothiripad of Kottayam Kitangur Patiyal and Ambika Tampuratti at Ambikavilasam Palace, Pandalam.

After starting his professional career as a sub-editor in Desabhimani, he joined the secretariat. He retired as Deputy Secretary in 2007.

During the 1996 EK Nayanar government, Minister Paloli worked as Muhammad Kuti's PA and during the VS Achuthanandan government as Paloli's Additional Private Secretary.

His wife is Meera Verma of Kanjiramattam Palace, Poonjar. The funeral will be held on Wednesday 14th at 3 pm. After the death, the large Koikal temple will be closed for 11 days. The temple will be opened on the 24th after the ablutions.
