As has been the practice of Reliance Jio, it has managed to reach the pole position in yet another segment – online grocery. It must be said that the feat was achieved by JioMart achieved the feat within two months of its launch, thereby surpassing biggies like BigBasket and Amazon Pantry in terms of the volume of online grocery sales.

As was mentioned by Mukesh Ambani, JioMart, on an average it is getting 250,000 orders per day. Now, this figure comfortably pushed the Bigbasket – which receives 220,000 orders per day. At the third place, comes Amazon Pantry, with 150,000 orders a day. Meanwhile, another biggie in the field of online grocery retail, Grofers, though hasn’t divulged the number of orders, is estimated to be making a daily turnout of 150,000 order per day.

The distribution network of both Bigbasket and Grofers is limited to only 30 cities in the country. That said, JioMart, within two months of its operation, is quite active in over 200 cities across the country. However, several customers have already expressed their unhappiness over the service of JioMart, mainly in terms of the delivery of vegetables and fruits. However, JioMart is expected to invest more into the delivery network in the coming months. Industry insiders also suggest that the company is expecting to increase the average value of each order, from its current position, where it receives orders worth Rs.500-600.
