Uber has finally decided to launch a PC version of its popular mobile based application operation. The light web based version of Uber – m.uber.com, is sure to be helpful for the Indian customers, who might not have access to smartphones, but have got PCs within their reach. While launching the light web based operations, Uber also introduced three new app features as well.
The first feature, ‘Offline search’ enables riders using the app in areas, where there are limited network accesses. The second one, ‘Request for a guest’ is aimed at enabling riders to book an Uber for others, though the rider might be located at an entirely different geographical location. In this case, the rider would be getting the details of the ride through SMS. Into the third feature, ‘Call to ride’ is meant for riders using a single phone number and entering the numeric code displayed on signage. The feature will help Uber in the process of identifying their location.
Albeit the three new features being introduced, they are on a pilot test now in Pune, after which it would be rolled out across the country.
