Normal Cinema ticket prices go up from Rs 130

Thiruvananthapuram: Movie theaters in Kerala will sell tickets at an ever-increasing rate. Tickets for various classes are priced from Rs 10 to Rs 30. The regular ticket will now cost Rs. With the government imposing GST, welfare funds and entertainment tax, the theater owners decided to increase the ticket charges. The movie theater owners have filed a lawsuit against the government. But proceedings in this regard were long overdue. Theater owners must pay entertainment tax with retrospective effect if the court ruling is in favor of the government. A few theaters have already raised ticket charges since Saturday.

When the GST was implemented, 18 per cent tax on tickets up to Rs 100 was decided, plus 28 per cent. However, due to pressure from the Film Federation of India, the central government has reduced the tax rate by 12% and 18% respectively .The average ticket price in Kerala is Rs 95. With the addition of a welfare fund of Rs 3 and a service charge of Rs 2, this became Rs 100. With this, 12% GST and 1% flood charges were imposed and the ticket price went up to Rs 113. The government imposed 5% entertainment tax at the base price and then added 5% GST on the local price. With this the base price of the ticket has gone up from Rs 95 to Rs 106. GST results in 18%. With this the average ticket fare has gone up to Rs.
