No Triple Lockdown in Ernakulam at this time; Regulations would be tightened

Minister VS Sunilkumar says there is no need for a triple lockdown in Ernakulam city at this time. Currently, the situation is under control and a triple lockdown can only be instituted if necessary. But restrictions will be tightened to prevent possible social spread. The number of containment zones will be increased. He added that the situation in Aluva is worse than Ernakulam.

Meanwhile, a meeting chaired by the minister has decided to temporarily open the police presence tomorrow after disinfecting the Aluva and Champakara markets. Police will give instructions including how many people can stand at a time. Retail sales are not allowed in the containment zones. The authorities have warned that strict action will be taken if the public does not comply with the directives of health department.

Meanwhile Six new containment zones have been announced in Ernakulam. Pallippuram Grama Panchayat Wards 21 and 22, Munambam Fishing Harbor and Market in Ward 3, Wards 13 and 4 in Edathala Grama Panchayath and 5th Ward in Keezhmadu Grama Panchayat are added to the restricted area.

Police inspection has been tightened in Ernakulam city and surrounding areas. Police examined the Kaloor, Kadavantra and Verapuzha markets. Steps have been taken, including closing shops that do not meet safety standards. The bus stops have been marked with social distancing standards.
