Nirmala Sitharaman Comes with Fifth Stage Announcements

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said the country was going through a critical phase. The minister said this at a press conference held at the end of the last phase of the Swasriya Bharat economic package. The Prime Minister said crises were an opportunity. The finance minister said today’s announcements were centered on this.

Today’s announcement includes employment guarantees, health and education, business and company law amendments, facilities for starting businesses, policy reforms related to public sector undertakings, and proposals for greater resource mobilization for state governments.

The finance minister said the safety of migrant workers would be ensured. The Finance Minister said today’s announcements are aimed at ‘self-help India’. Today’s announcements are based on land, labor, law and money.

The finance minister said that Rs 8.19 crore was paid to farmers at Rs 2000 each. 16,000 crores were directly transferred to farmers’ accounts. During the Lockdown period, food grains were provided to those in need.

10,025 crore has been transferred through Jan Dhan account. 6.81 crore free birth cylinders. The minister said the farmers have been provided with foodgrains for more than two months.
