KTM’s midweight Sport Naked motorcycle 790 Duke launched in India The bike is priced at Rs 8.64 lakh. The 790 Duke with the most powerful and expensive model for sale in the KTM range in India. In the first phase, the 790 Duke is being marketed under the banner of Bharat Stage Four.
The bike is powered by a 799cc, parallel twin engine. The engine is powered by 105bhp and 86Nm of torque. The suspension is 43mm in front, the Upside Down fork and the rear is a preload mono shock. The Duke 790 is currently available only in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Surat, Guwahati and Chennai. KTM aims to expand its operations to more than 30 cities by April. The KTM Duke 790 is priced at a premium compared to its competitors. The Duke is more expensive than the Suzuki GSX-S 750 (price: Rs 7.46 lakh) and the Kawasaki Sea 900 (Rs 7.70 lakh). However, the Duke 790 is cheaper compared to its European rivals, the Street Triple S (Rs 9.19 lakh) and the Ducati Monster 821 (Rs 10.99 lakh).

Bajaj Auto Pro Biking President Sumeet Narang said that the 790 Duke will be KTM’s debut for the super bike segment in India. The super bike category is bikes with an engine capacity of more than 300cc and a value of over three lakhs; Narang estimates that sales in this category are limited due to the limitations of the sales network. With over 460 showrooms in 360 cities, he hopes to overcome this limitation and achieve better sales growth.

Last year, KTM sold about half a million bikes in India; Total sales so far have crossed two lakh units. Despite the overall downturn in the automobile market, KTM sales in India grew by 30% over the previous year, Narang said.
