New Syllabus for Engineering and Technical Courses in India

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has launched a new Syllabus/curriculum for all the engineering and technical courses in India. Initiated by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the changed curriculum has reduced the number of credits for theory from 220 to 160. That said, out of these credits, a total of 14 have to be earned from summer internships. The internship period under the new curriculum would be up to three months, even if it is during summer vacation.

Emphasizing more importance on practical side of the course, MHRD Ministry stressed the need for revamping curriculum every year. Officials maintained that the changed pattern would make more industry ready candidates passing out from technical institutes.
