MVD to migrate from ‘Smart Move’ to ‘Vahan Sarathi’

The Motor Vehicle Department is all set to revamp its Software for vehicle registration and issuing of licenses. From May 1st onwards, all the above mentioned procedures of the MVD would be carried out through the centralized web portal ‘Vahan Sarathi’. Currently, the MVD is using the software ‘Smart Move’ to carry out all of its activities.

As was informed by the MVD, no longer be valid the temporary register number of vehicles registered prior to April 30th. Thus, such vehicles could no longer be used in public roads. It is also been informed that those who have secured learning licenses through ‘Smart Move’, and haven’t appeared for driving tests, would have to appear before their respective offices at the earliest. While ‘Vahan’ be used for vehicle registration, ‘Sarathi’ would be used for issuing licenses. The license issued through ‘Sarathi’ would come with six different security measurements.
