MM Yusuf Ali will construct a building costing about 20 crores for the male elderly of Gandhi Bhavan.
The foundation stone for the multi-storied building costing around 20 crores was laid on Christmas day.
Inmates of Gandhi Bhavan founder and secretary Punalur Somarajan and film actor T.P. In a simple ceremony in the presence of senior citizens including Madhavan, M.A. Yusafali did the stone laying.
The new building is coming up near the multi-storied building built by Yousafali at a cost of more than fifteen crores to house more than 300 mothers of Gandhi Bhavan.
The building will have accommodation for around 300 inmates with state-of-the-art facilities.
It is built in three floors. There will also be a prayer hall on the top which can seat 700 people. Emergency care facilities, special care units, pharmacy, laboratory, library, dining hall,
Yousafali said the construction of the building, which will include lifts, separate prayer rooms for the three religions, doctor’s examination rooms, modern toilet blocks, waste disposal systems, office systems, beds and furniture, will be completed within two years.
