Lock down Withdrawal : The stand of Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ If the central directive is to extend the lock down even after 14, Kerala will agree by following certain liberation. Kerala is of the view that states should seek permission to grant concessions based on local circumstances. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce this in a video conference with chief ministers tomorrow to see the interest of states.

Though Covid is under control in Kerala, there is community spread in other parts of the country. It is estimated that if the lockdown is withdrawn, the people in these parts have chances of spreading it inside Kerala.

At the same time, states should be free to grant a lockdown exemption in view of the economic crisis. Income-prone areas should be open with provisions so as to avoid the threat of Covid. The concession will be based on the situation in each district. Kerala is of the opinion that even if the lockdown is concluded, the restrictions should be phased out.
