The Supreme Court has indefinitely extended the deadline for linking ‘Aadhaar card’ with mobile number. Earlier, the last date for Aadhaar linking of mobile number, was set on March 31.While commenting on the issue, the SC maintained that govt. should never insist the usage of Aadhaar card, for any purpose, until the final verdict comes from SC. The SC bench further added that the ‘Aadhaar linking’ would be extended on an indefinite note, until the final verdict on the ongoing case, is produced.
That said, the central govt. is vying to make Aadhaar mandatory for most of the areas, including that of issuing ‘driving licenses’.
