That said, govt. has already issued several notifications regarding linking Aadhaar with SIM number. Now, it must be mentioned here that many telecom operators are offering a toll free service for re verification of Aadhaar number on your mobile phones by dialing toll free number 14546. The process is handled out through an IVR based OTP verification process. The UIDAI has already issued directives for generating OTP through two modes – from the service provider’s website and by using the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) services.
1. The following is a step by step guide for linking your SIM with Aadhaar through IVRS based Aadhaar authentication through helpline 14546. Follow these 3 steps for completing the whole procedure.
2. Dial the toll free helpline number 14546, upon which you will be asked about your nationality – either India or Foreign. For Indian citizen, they have to press 1. Foreigners and NRIs are exempted from the procedure. Well, up next you will be required to enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number. Again you will have to confirm the given information by pressing 1.
3. Now, you will receive an OTP number to your registered mobile number. You will have to give approval to the IVR system for giving consent to the telecom operator for accessing the user’s UIDAI database.
In this step, you will have to enter the OTP and required to press 1 in order to confirm the procedure. This is the final step with which you can finish the process of linking SIM with AADHAAR from Home.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) earlier has directed service providers to allocate the short code 14546 for the IVR based OTP authentication process of Aadhaar re verification of SIM. Well, the deadline set by the Supreme Court is March 1st, 2018, within which every mobile numbers should have to be linked with Aadhaar number.
