Kurup Collection; Left ‘Lucifer’ behind in the first day’s collection; claims Wayfarer Productions

The producer of the Dulquer Salmaan film Wayfarer Productions claims that ‘Kurup’ has surpassed the records of the first day collections of Malayalam cinema so far. Dulquer Salman’s movie Kurup did more than 2600 shows on 505 screens on November 12 in Kerala on release day. After 12 noon, additional shows were held in all the important centers of Kerala. Jayashankar, Chief Operating Officer, Wafeer Productions, told that the first day gross collection of the film was Rs 6 crore and Rs 30 lakh in Kerala alone. Jayashankar said that Kurup’s achievement is behind the first day gross collection of the movie Lucifer directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal, reported by ‘The Cue’

Even In the Covid situation, ‘Kurup’ managed to set a record collection with only 50 per cent of the seats available. Concerns about whether audiences will reach the theater after the second wave have been allayed by ‘Kurup’. The movie has been booked in most of the theaters in Kerala till Sunday. Theaters are also expected to increase the number of shows due to ticket demand. Based on ticket bookings, theater owners estimate that Kurup  will bring more family audiences to the theatres from Monday.

Currently, most of the box office records in Kerala are in Mohanlal’s name. Highest opening collection, first 50 crore film, 100 crore film, 200 crore film, highest industry hits and so on. So far ‘Kurup’ has surpassed the first day record of Mohanlal’s Lucifer.
