Kerala to begin rapid antibody tests

Kerala is all prepared to begin rapid antibody tests. The tests are meant to check whether community spread had taken place, or not. As was mentioned by the CM during his regular Covid press meet on Friday, the state is looking forward to conduct 15,000 tests a week. Upon testing positive in antibody tests, one would undergo PCR test. Cases in which, those who have fever and suffer from respiratory issues would be prioritized. According to the reports, the blood test samples would produce test results within 20 minutes.

State will be using the kits produced by HLL, which are served by ICMR to various states. Earlier, ICMR had found that the kits imported from Chinese were underperforming and not meeting the standards. During the first phase, a total of 10,000 people would be tested. Meanwhile, the number of Covid patients is increasing in an unprecedented manner. While the international figures have crossed 6.8 million, nation overtook Italy in terms of the number of Covid patients. Kerala too recorded the highest single day turnout last day, when it received 111 new positive cases.
