Kerala landslide: Relief fund offered by Prime Minister and Kerala CM

The landslide occurred at Pettimudi, Rajamalai in Idukki, has claimed 15 lives. Deeply mourning over the loss of the lives, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a relief fund of INR 2 Lakh for the family members of those were killed in the tragedy. Those who suffered serious injuries, will receive INR 50,000. It is from the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund that the money is allocated.  Taking social media spaces, the Prime Minister maintained that the the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the government were working to help the victims.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while convening the press, announced an ex – gratia of INR 5 lakh to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives in the disaster. CM also added that the state government would bear all the expenses of treatment of those who were injured in the landslide. It is believed that about 80 people were buried under the mud. So far, 12 people were rescued and the rescue work is continuing for the rest.
