July 23: India registered 45,720 positive cases and 1,129 deaths

During the past 24 hours, a total of 45,720 fresh Covid cases were reported in India. Marking the highest singly day figure, India has also crossed the 12 lakh mark – after the US and Brazil. With last day’s figure, India’s Covid tally has reached a total of 12,38,635 to its credit. The country has also registered 1,129 new deaths during the last 24 hours – becoming the first instance of a single day death toll crossing 1,000 mark. With this, the pandemic has claimed a total of 29,861 lives from India so far. Ministry of Health informs that the active cases in India stands at 4,26,167, whereas a total of 7,82,606 got cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi continue to lead India’s Corona chart. However, for the past some days Delhi has consistently been showing less number of positive cases. ICMR statistics show that India has tested a total of 1,50,75,369 samples till day, with country testing a 3,50,823 samples last day. The rate at which new cases are being added to India’s tally is quite alarming, however, the rate of recovery gives some positive figure.
