July 21: India registered 37,148 positive cases and 587 deaths

During the past 24 hours, a total of 37,148 fresh cases were reported in India, which is the highest single day spike that the country has witnessed so far. With last day’s figure, India has a total of 11,55,191 to its credit. Incidentally, India is only the third country to have crossed the 10 lakh mark, behind the USA and Brazil. The country has also registered 587 new deaths during the last 24 hours. With this, the pandemic has claimed a total of 28,084 lives from India so far. Ministry of Health informs that the active cases in India stands at 4,02,529, whereas a total of 7,24,578 got cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi continue to lead India’s Corona chart. However, for the past some days Delhi has consistently been showing less number of positive cases. ICMR statistics show that India has tested a total of 1,43,81,303 samples till day, with country testing a 3,33,395 samples last day. The rate at which new cases are being added to India’s tally is quite alarming, however, the rate of recovery gives some positive figure.
