July 18: India registered 34,884 positive cases and 671 deaths

During the past 24 hours, a total of 34,884 fresh cases were reported in India, which incidentally is the highest single day spike that the country has witnessed so far. With last day’s figure, India has a total of 10,38,716 to its credit. India is only the third country to have crossed the 10 lakh mark, behind the USA and Brazil. The country has also registered 671 new deaths during the last 24 hours. With this, the pandemic has claimed a total of 26,273 lives from India so far. Ministry of Health informs that the active cases in India stands at 3,58,692, whereas a total of 6,53,751 got cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi continue to lead India’s Corona chart. However, for the past some days Delhi has consistently been showing less number of positive cases. ICMR statistics show that India has tested a total of 1,34,72,718 samples till day, with country testing a 3,61,024 samples last day. The rate at which new cases are being added to India’s tally is quite alarming, however, the rate of recovery gives some positive figure. Last day, as was released by the Ministry of Health, the recovery rate in the country has crossed 63%.
