Is 5G a threat to human health? What the researchers around the world says

Conspiracies continue around the world against 5G, the next generation of high-speed wireless technology. The main allegation is that it destroys the health of the people. Even Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla’s appearance against 5G was big news. However, the court ruled against Juhi in the case. Experts and researchers have already stated that Juhi’s arguments are wrong. Many countries, including China, have already implemented 5G. Experts say problems with human health could have been detected earlier.

But before the advent of 5G, there were many similar protests inside and outside the country. Going a step further, there were protests saying that technologies ranging from microwaves to cell phones would cause problems. It has been alleged that radio waves can cause brain cancer, reduce fertility and cause problems in children, including headaches.

Experts say there is no link between 5G technology and health. But they say there is no need to stop doing more research. But most scientists say the findings show that there is no cause for concern. Recent biological research also suggests that there is no link between 5G technology and health. Shubham Dasgupta, a post – doctoral fellow at Oregon State University who studied the subject, says their experiments on zebra fish are not only harmless, they may be beneficial.

What is the truth about radiation?

Radiation is the transmission of energy from any source. In other words, even the heat that comes out of our body is radiation. But some types of radiation are problematic. Scientists have classified different types of radiation according to their strength. The larger the wavelength and the lower the frequency, the lower the power. At the same time, those with shorter wavelengths and higher frequencies have more power. These are classified into two categories- ionizing and non-ionizing.

Ultraviolet rays and X-ray gamma rays are ionizing radiations. These are harmful. Energy from ionizing radiation is converted into atoms. They break down the chemical bonds in DNA. This can be harmful to the cells. May cause cancer. That is why we are warned not to take X-rays unnecessarily. This is why it is said that even long exposure to sunlight can cause cancer.

However, non-ionizing radiation does not have the power to break the chemistry of DNA. Examples include radio frequency radiation, TV signals, and cellular 2G, 3G, and 4G services. Microwave and millimeter wavelength radiation is being introduced in Europe and the United States and is now coming to India using 5G technology. This is also included in the range of non-ionizing. It also does not produce any energy that is directly harmful to the cells. Wi-Fi routers, airport security scanners, and walkie-talkies are all used by lower-frequency microwaves.

Does this mean that cell phone radiation does not cause cancer?

Experts say that this is not an easy question to answer. Some say things like oxidative stress in cells can be problematic. Radiation from these devices can cause damage to cells through a biological process similar to oxidative stress in cells. This can cause some changes in the body. It does not rule out the small risk of leading to cancer, diabetes, certain diseases of the heart, brain or lungs. Thousands of studies over the past two decades do not prove this. But most studies show that there is no evidence to suggest that traditional cell phone use is harmful. The American Cancer Society says there is no clear evidence that the radio frequency range has the potential to cause tumors.

However, all of these studies are said to have been conducted within a number of constraints. So far, the US Environmental Protection Agency and the National Toxicology Program have not identified RF radiation as a potential carcinogen. However, in 2011 the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer found that RF radiation may cause cancer in humans. They were skeptical about certain types of brain tumors. But they also said there was evidence of this

That means very limited. In that sense, coffee and vegetable pickles are classified as ‘possibly carcinogenic’. Some epidemiological studies have shown that electromagnetic radiation can cause cancer, says lung specialist Jonathan Summit. But he says the evidence is not so strong. Therefore, the IARC Committee says that it is not possible to say for sure whether cell phones are safe or not. Samet says more research needs to be done on whether non-ionizing radiation, like radio frequency, can cause cancer.

Concerns about 5G are the same as when it came to 2G, 3G and 4G. It is generally believed that it will change along the way. Many 5G service providers say they will use Loband itself. But service providers like AT&T and Verizon use the high frequency band 5G in the US. These high band frequencies are of the greatest concern. This is because relatively little research has been done on it. However, it is reassuring to note that this high-band frequency is also classified as non-ionizing. 5G networks with millimeter wave frequency will use smaller towers. The method may not be a tower within a few miles. That is what worries some more. They argue that they will need more radiation.

In short, a super high-frequency millimeter wavelength of five times the tower and so on used up to 4G. Activists have come out against devices that only transmit signals to people. Activist Thomas Suvosi alleged that such cell towers were set up even in front of rooms provided for small children. He also asks what action will be taken if these are found to be dangerous in the future. Despite this, researchers say there is no link between coronavirus and 5G. The plaintiffs allege that the coronavirus originated shortly after the 5G tower was installed in Wuhan. They also say that it is foolish to think that there is a link between the spread of the virus and the radio frequency.

Some researchers say that cell phone radiation can affect health. Their argument is that 5G is enough to dispel this suspicion. Until then, 5G deployment should be discontinued. Professor Martin Paul, of Washington State University, says it’s clear that cell phone radiation is a problem. Studies so far provide a clear indication of the link between cell phone radiation and various diseases. He says it can cause many problems, from cancer to infertility and depression.

But scientists who have been working in the field for decades are raising another argument. John Butcher, a scientist with the National Toxicology Program, says 5G does not pose such a risk. Professor Kenneth Foster, who has done more than 50 years of research on radio frequency, says the problem is that milk and others take only a few examples as examples. He also alleges that they seek only studies that support their claim. But they pretend not to see the studies that say their argument is wrong. But he also admits that not much has been learned about 5G. Samet says he still has to wait to see if the cell phones were a problem. The link between lung cancer and smoking was discovered 20-25 years after cigarettes were manufactured and distributed commercially. Therefore, he argues, it will be years before we can clearly understand the problems of cell phone use. However, the FDA says current evidence does not rule that cell phone radiation is a problem. The FDA unanimously agreed to 5G. The FDA says higher frequency signals will not be a problem either. However, many are demanding that more research be done on the subject.
