IIT Delhi and Indiana University come up with Tactile Graphics Approach for Visually Impaired

IIT Delhi and Indiana University, US, have collaborated for a research on improving the lives of the blind and visually impaired people. A three year long research, the outcome of the study has brought a fruitful result – Tactile Graphics. The approach will be relying on two dimensional images, composed of linear and textured design elements. While addressing the media, member of the research team of IIT Delhi, commented that the system wasn’t a novel one. They mentioned that their effort was in bringing a cost effective method.

Tactile Graphics/Diagrams cost $2 per page in the US; the research outcome claims to have brought down the cost to 25 cents.
