Hyundai Ioniq, the company’s hybrid Sedan, has managed to get a 5 star rating during the ASEAN NCAP crash test. Hyundai Ioniq has scored 46.34 points for the adult occupant protection, while it has gone onto make 21.48 points for child occupant protection. That said, the overall protection score of Hyundai Ioniq stands at 91.98 points. The hybrid sedan from Hyundai has thus managed to meet with most of the safety tech requisites of ASEAN NCAP.

Showcased during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai Ioniq comes in two variants – ‘Plug in hybrid’ and ‘hybrid’. Both the variants are powered by a Kappa 1.6GDI, four cylinder engine, which is capable of producing 105bhp and a peak torque figure of 147Nm. The electronic motor, on the other hand, generates 43.5bhp and clocks a peak torque of 170Nm. It has to be seen whether Hyundai has got any plans of launching the model in India.
