Lijo Jose Pellissery tells how he got the title of Malaikottai Valiban. Lijo talks about this in an interview given to Galata Plus.
Lijo said this in response to the questioner's question.
The title Malaikottai Valiban was created by combining the names of two Tamil films Malaikallan and Vanchikottai Valiban. Lijo's response to the question as to whether the name came about is as follows-
“Absolutely. We have heard such names in Amarchitra Katha and others. Names like Thacholi Othenan and Thacholi Ambu. There was a need for a name that immediately sounds like a hero. Something with a capital added to the name. As soon as you hear Malaikottai, you know that it is something big. You get that 70mm feeling”, says Lijo Jose Pellissery.
Malaikallan is a 1954 Tamil action film starring MGR in the script by M Karunanidhi. Vanchikottai Valiban was released in 1958 starring Gemini Ganesan.
