The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed the petition filed by activist Rehana Fathima in the case of hurting religious sentiments. The court stated that the case against the activist for offending religious sentiments by cooking beef and referring it as ‘Gomatha Ularth’, cannot be stayed.
A case was filed against Rehana Fathima for posting a cooking video of beef by referring it as ‘Gomata Ularth’ on her YouTube channel. The case was based on a complaint filed by Rajish Ramachandran, a native of Ernakulam, at the Ernakulam South Police Station, alleging that the cookery show was presented to create communal conflict.
Rehana Fathima shot to limelight for several controversies earlier. The incident in which she allowed her minor children to paint on her semi-nude body and circulating the video on social media, and her visit to Sabarimala following the Supreme Court’s verdict permitting entry of women were controversial.
