Google has started rolling out the feature of ‘.app’ Top Level Domain (TLD) for app developers. From now onwards, developers can book the domain name from Google registry using the service. The ‘.app’ TLD would come with an added security level and happens to be the first TLD requiring HTTPS encryption. ‘.app’ domain comes with built in security, while it would safeguard against the spying activities on open WiFi networks.
The company informed that users can register the ‘.app’ domains through Google’s ‘Early Access Programme’ till May 7th. Earlier, it was in 2015, which Google had acquired the TLD ‘.app’ for an amount of $25 Million.
