Google fined for Rs 136.86 Cr by CCI for search bias

Google was charged for ‘Search Bias’ by Competition Commission of India (CCI). CCI, which has charged the search engine giant for INR 136.86 Cr, accused them for data manipulation. CCI, which is essentially the fair trade regulator present in the country, charged Google over a complaint filed in 2012. While CCI found Google to have ‘infringed antitrust conduct’, the latter commented that they would review their past actions.

CCI, while producing the verdict, has given a time period of 60 days for Google to deposit the amount. It has to be seen how the tech giant is going to tackle such issues in the future.
