Gold Smuggling: Sarith to remain under custody till July 15th

The Special Court, Kochi has ordered Sarith to remain under the custody of Customs Department, till July 15th. The Customs Department demanded the need for getting Sarith under custody, in order to obtain more evidences related to the case of smuggling gold through the diplomatic passage in Thiruvananthapuram. While considering the case, the special court approved the claims made by the Customs Department.

Customs has already collected the telephone call records of Sarith, and the investigating team would probe Sarith based on these evidences. However, it is reported that Sarith had already destroyed several crucial evidences from his phone, by formatting the device. In order to check the possibility of retaining the lost information, Customs department is looking for the assistance from Forensic experts and cyber experts. On the other hand, the investigating team continues the search for two other people – Swapna Suresh, who is believed to be the master brain behind the activities and Sandeep.
