Terka: Former Ghanaian international Raphael Dwamena (28) died after collapsing on the field during a football match. The tragic end was during the Albanian League match. Doctors said the cause of death was a heart attack.
As soon as he collapsed, he was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. The incident took place during a match between Egnatia Rogoj and FK Partizani Tirana in the Albanian League.
Dwamena collapsed on the field in the 24th minute of the match. Rafael was playing with the help of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator due to heart problems.
In 2017, the player was diagnosed with a heart defect while undergoing medical tests to join Premier League club Brighton. After failing the medical examination, the player’s club entry was suspended.
He later played for Lusten and FC Zurich in Austria. Later moving to the Levant in Spain. However, the club also gave up after collapsing several times during the match. In the end, the Albanian joined the league. In 2017-2018, he scored two goals in nine matches for the Ghana national team.
