Many of those who attended the baptism ceremony sought treatment for food poisoning. Those who ate at the feast held on Thursday in Mallapally sought treatment at various hospitals after experiencing diarrhea and vomiting. It is reported that the condition of one of them is serious.
The baptism ceremony was held at Mallapally St. Thomas Church on Thursday. The afternoon feast consisted of non-vegetarian dishes and rice. The food was cooked and delivered by a catering firm from Chengannur. About 190 people attended the banquet. Since Friday morning, many of the party participants have been suffering from diarrhea and vomiting. It is reported that about 70 people who participated in the feast sought treatment at hospitals in Adoor, Ranni, Kumbanad and other places in two days.
The preliminary conclusion is that the poisoning was caused by the food served at the banquet. The organizers of the banquet said that they will file a complaint with the authorities on Sunday. At the same time, the response of the Chengannur catering establishment is that the same dishes that were served in Mallapally were distributed in Parumala and two other places on that day. Those related to the catering firm responded that there were no problems there.
