Flagging inappropriate content on YouTube: India tops the list

The YouTube’s Transparency Report during the fourth quarter of 2017, suggests that India topped the list of users flagging inappropriate content on the platform. It is reported that over 9.3 million unique videos on the platform, were flagged by users. Among the total number of flagged videos, 95 percent had been made by individual users, while the rest was by individual trusted flaggers. After India, comes Italy, the US, Brazil and Russia occupying the top five spots.

According to the report, YouTube has removed 8.28 million videos from its platform. Out of the total, sexual content topped the list with as many as 30 percent, while violent videos contributed 13.5 percent. While releasing the report, YouTube claimed that it was able to remove as many as 76 percent of videos in automated process.
